Fate of the Furious just recently dropped in theaters and several rumors are already going round about the next movie in the franchise. Bourne Identity star Matt Damon is reportedly filling in for Paul Walker in Fast and Furious 9. Moreover, there are rumors suggesting that Han is not dead after all.

Fast and Furious 9: Returning Character?

As early as now, fans are bracing themselves for an upcoming surprise with the final two chapters in the Fast and Furious franchise. Just recently, the makers of the box office hit films have teased that a character is returning. The said character may be Han (Sung Kang.)
Han is known to be the mentor of the troubled school boy Sean Blackwell (Lucas Black) in a prequel titled The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift (2009.) In the said movie, he died during a car chase. In Furious 7 it was revealed that Deckard Shaw (Jason Statham) was behind the tragic crash in Tokyo as part of his revenge plot against Dominic Toretto (Vin Diesel).
It seems that Shaw might not have been successful in eradicating Han if the filmmakers are indeed referring to the latter. Moreover, if the rumors are true, the fun part is finding out how they will bring him back.

Han Returning Alive: The Hints

Going back to the said hints, Fast and the Furious writer Chris Morgan has said in an interview with Cinema Blend that the next two chapters will give some focus to Han. Morgan said, “We will definitely be talking more about Han.”
Even Statham weighed in on the characters return. His remarks have some weight especially with the fact that his character, Shaw, seemed to have taken a 180 degree turn as seen in the recent movie. Statham said, “That whole episode has not fully detailed exactly what happened. I’m not going to say anything more than that!”
Then he quipped, “But [writer-producer Chris Morgan] likes to annoy the fans and please the fans and get all these angry protests. So, more to come.”

Jason Bourne Infiltrating Fast and Furious?

Moving on, there are reports suggesting that Matt Damon might be joining the family – or probably a new threat. A haunting photo of a disguised Matt Damon (or his likeness) juxtaposed over Torreto’s iconic ride is going around Facebook at the moment. It is assumed that the photo is a promo teaser for the next FF chapter. Further details are sparse, thus this photo is adding to the tension of anxious fans.
At this point, the safest thing to do is sit back and wait for what Statham has teased “more to come.” As exciting as the thought of Han returning or A-lister Matt Damon joining Fast and Furious 9 may seem, it is still too early for anybody to get their hopes high.
